Canon South Africa has announced the local availability of the Edale portfolio, expanding access to label and packaging production technologies for converters and commercial printers in the South African market.
Edale, a UK-based manufacturer of printing and converting equipment for the label and packaging industry, develops flexographic presses, hybrid printing systems, carton production lines and finishing technologies used in label, carton and flexible packaging applications. The company became part of Canon following its acquisition in 2022.
The portfolio introduced in South Africa includes digital and hybrid presses, label and carton production lines, converting systems and finishing equipment. Canon said the rollout is supported by its local service and support infrastructure.
Edale is also known for its web transport engineering technology, which has contributed to the development of Canon’s LabelStream 4000 series.
The launch comes as packaging and print businesses continue adapting to shorter production runs, faster turnaround requirements and increasing demand for production flexibility.
Hennie Badenhorst, Head of Sales B2B – Direct and Commercial Print at Canon South Africa, said: “Bringing the Edale portfolio to South Africa is a meaningful step in our journey to support local industry through innovation. We understand the challenges our customers face, and this expansion enables us to provide solutions that combine global expertise with local relevance.”
Canon stated that local access to Edale systems would allow converters and print businesses to strengthen production efficiency, improve workflow integration and expand label and carton production capabilities.
Badenhorst added: “This goes beyond expanding our portfolio. It unlocks new possibilities for our customers. By combining Edale’s specialised capabilities with Canon’s vision for innovation, we enable businesses to scale, diversify and confidently meet the demands of a dynamic market.”
Canon South Africa said the initiative reflects its continued investment in the regional print and packaging industry, including local support, training and technical service capabilities.
